What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

I enjoy helping people improve their lives. Wealth management brings together all of the financial disciplines directly for the benefit of our clients. Nothing feels better than earning a client’s trust while helping them realize something as impactful as financial independence.

What do you love most about Practice Financial Group?

Our core values, one of which is to pursue excellence. We will do better tomorrow what we did today. As a result we are constantly challenging ourselves to continuously improve. I finish each day with a smile on my face and a feeling of satisfaction knowing the direction that our core values take us.

Other than to pay bills, why is PFG in business?

PFG is in business to help our clients achieve financial independence as quickly as reasonably possible. Our clients can then use the freedom that financial independence brings to make the world a better place. Whether it is providing free dental services in struggling communities around the world, or being an active contributor to the local community, all of us here at PFG firmly believe that we are directly impacting the quality of our world through our clients.

What do you do at PFG?

My title within the company is “Director of Tax & Accounting.” As such, I oversee our tax and accounting departments and ensure the accurate and timely completion of all of our clients’ tax returns and financial statements. In this role I also take the lead on all the tax planning and strategy for our clients. If there is a tax research question that needs to be addressed – I’m the man. In short my job is to keep our clients in compliance with state and federal tax agencies, and to ensure they don’t pay more in taxes than legally required.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

I was part of an advisory board for a client that I knew well. This client was going through a series of complex transactions based on the advice of multiple advisors. When I looked at the plan that was about to be executed I advised an alternate timing and structure to the transaction. This saved the client from devastating tax consequences. This client had multiple advisors looking out for isolated areas of the client’s best interest, but nobody was looking at the big picture because of the isolated advisory roles. I was able to see that and make the save before it was too late.

What strengths of yours make you suited for what you do?

I have strong accounting, finance and technical tax accounting skills that can help balance a client’s financial picture from multiple angles, both inside and outside of the business.

What are your interests outside of work?

Spending time outdoors with my wife, Celina and two daughters, Jenna and Ava. I also enjoy riding mountain bikes, motorcycles, anything that involves two wheels.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am proud of the family that I have, and how incredibly close we are to each other. I also paid my own way through college by working in Alaska over the summers. I usually worked about 100 days without a day off, averaging 15 hours per day. When I started my first job in public accounting I thought the work hours were a piece of cake!
