FIEGI Report – Recessions and Dentistry
Written By: Ryan Fiegi
Happy December everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Let’s finish 2022 strong. This week we’re going to focus on 2 articles around recessions. Enjoy!
- Markets Don’t Wait for Official Announcements (1 Pg. PDF)
- How Does Dentistry do in a Recession (2 Pg. Article from Advanced Practice Management’s November Bulletin)
Summary: A recession is defined as 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. This already occurred in Q1 & Q2 of 2022, therefore we’re technically already in a recession. However, “don’t create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Base all your decisions on what is going on inside your practice – not in the Wall Street Journal! In general, Dentistry is less affected than other sectors of the economy.”
Monthly Quote:
“As sure as spring will follow winter, prosperity and economic growth will follow a recession.”
